Train to be a Home-Visiting Volunteer

All our Home-Start volunteers must be a parent or have parenting experience.

Before being matched to a family all our volunteers attend a preparation course, we do a PVG check and take up references. The preparation course is informal, there are no exams and its about us getting to know you and making sure you have all the relevant information about Home-Start.

Topics included on the preparation course include -

  • Introduction to Home-Start
  • The role of the Home-Visiting Volunteer
  • Values & Attitudes
  • Listening & Communication
  • Supporting Parents
  • Meeting the Needs of Children
  • Protecting & Safeguarding Children & Vulnerable Adults
  • Confidentiality

The course is a mixture of online learning in your own time with four short face-to-face group sessions.

If you don't have access to a computer/tablet please don't let that put you off!

To register your interest Text/Whatsapp us on 07594 564829 and we will get back to you to arrange to meet up for a chat.
